RENATO GUTTUSO (Bagheria 1911 – Roma 1987)
The Guttuso room is provided with en-suite bathroom decorated in light blue, of a wide balcony looking at a typical quiet vanilla and a high ceiling characterised by an archstone. Furniture are of a pleasant light yellow, matching the majolica tiles.
As a Communist, Guttuso took part in the anti-fascist struggle, an experience that infomed his poetic and compassionate style. He is one the most famour contemporary Italian painter, characterised by intense expressionism with a strong social conscience. He was one of the leading figures of the post-war ‘realistic’ movement, in dialogue with European avant-guard trends.
