The red apartment: Carla Accardi (Trapani 1924 – Rome 2014)
The apartment Carla Accardi has two wide rooms. The bedroom also has a loft, in order to have one area for nights and another one for days, with a balcony facing a local-style and quite courtyard. The large kitchen/living room also has a balcony which leads to the laundrette room
Eccentric and eclectic, Carla Accardi was a marxist and one of the pioneer of feminism in Italy. Her painting was crucial for the development of the abstract art in Italy, especially after the Second World War. Her painting style is characterised by white marks over black backgrounds or by strong coloured strokes, especially of red.
